Spring Events Showcase Public Media 2.0 Research

CSM's Future of Public Media project is drawing to a close with a series of spring events:

  • In early April, the project's director, Jessica Clark, moderated a panel at the National Conference for Media Reform titled Face to Face with the Future of Public Media. There, leaders from Access Humboldt, the Association for Independents in Radio, the National Black Programming Consortium, PRX, the Public Insight Network showcased different approaches to involving publics in media production, and creating participatory networks. Video of the session should be available soon on the NCMR panel page.
  • Clark also spoke in late April at the University of Missouri's Hurley Symposium, which addressed the future of public media from the perspective of both system leaders and local innovators. The event took place at the National Press Club and aired on C-SPAN; video is available here. Amy Garmer of the Knight Commission on the Information Needs of Communities in a Democracy rounds up the event.
  •  In late May, Clark will join CSM Director Pat Aufderheide in presenting findings and analysis from the Future of Public Media project at an ICA preconference: The Future of Public Media—Participatory Media, Global Networks. Coordinated by the Center for Social Media in conjunction with the organizers of the RIPE conference, this half-day convening aims to strengthen comparative research networks to examine rising models for public media 2.0 around the world.
